Introduction to Natural Dyes
Mother Nature is gracious enough to lay a color palette right outside our windows. Attendees in this class will explore some of what she has to offer, giving them the courage to go out and sample more.
Students will go home with samples dyed in class plus others dyed previously. All materials plus
handouts included in $65 fee.

Market Baskets w/ Mary
In this beginner level workshop, participants will create a sturdy market basket with a wooden handle, a fun and useful project with over under and start and stop weaving. Two colors will be available to choose from. This class runs from 11am to 2pm and will involve working with water so attendees should bring a towel and a sack lunch. Pattern and teaching provided by Mary McCreery, all materials provided. Mary has been a hobby weaver for over 25 years and lives on a small farm in southwest Missouri with her husband, a corgi and 2 "rare breed" dogs. (They are one of a kind, just not sure what).

Sopes & Salsa
Join us on a culinary journey into Northern Mexico with Chef Felicia De La Garza where we will make and take delicious Sopes and Savory Salsas. Sopes are a traditional Central and Northern Mexican dish consisting of a masa base served with savory toppings. $30 fee includes instruction, tasting, and sopes to take home.
Eureka Springs resident Felicia De La Garza is a dedicated advocate for children and families with a multidisciplinary background. She holds degrees in Cross-Cultural Communications, Social Work, and Organizational Leadership, equipping her with a strong foundation for working across diverse communities and systems.
Felicia previously served as an art teacher in New Mexico, where she combined creativity with education to help students express themselves and build confidence through the arts. She currently lives and works in Arkansas as part of the team at the Children and Family Advocacy Center of Benton County, where she supports children and families navigating difficult circumstances. Felicia is committed to advocacy, healing, and empowering communities through compassion, creativity, and culturally responsive care.

ABCs of Summer Mushrooms
ABC's of Arkansas Summer Mushrooms
Learn from author and mycologist Jay Justice about local wild summer mushrooms including Amanitas, Boletes, and Chanterelles. Our morning presentation will be followed by a bring-your-own brown bag lunch break and afternoon foray in the Ozark National Forest to observe and collect mushrooms/fungi in their natural habitat. Then we'll gather our finds, head back to Ozark Folkways for a hands on identification workshop followed by one of our ever popular tastings! Jay Justice is a retired epidemiologist who formerly worked at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. He is a co-founder and scientific advisor for the Arkansas Mycological Society (1982) and a scientific advisor to the Cumberland Mycological Society as well as a chief mycologist for the Missouri Mycological Society. As anyone who has attended one of Jay's workshops in the past knows, these informative and delicious events fill up quickly. Tickets are $65 per person and include tastings. Tickets are non refundable. Participants are encouraged to wear seasonally appropriate clothing, bring lunch, a walking stick if needed, sun screen, insect repellent, drinking water and a paper sack for collecting mushrooms.

Shore & Cockram Live in the Crow's Nest
Susan Shore and Michael Cockram are versatile multi-instrumentalists, songwriters and singers with an eclectic repertoire that ranges from high lonesome traditional ballads to swing to contemporary folk songs.
This concert will be held on our indoor stage. $10 per person supports the musicians and the mission of Ozark Folkways.

Meadow Makers Live
Making moves and clearing paths for the future; pushing against borders and birthing space. Meadow Makers is a melodic and vocal driven folk duo from Northwest Arkansas Comprised of Dana Louise and Noah Richmond. Their diverse musical backgrounds and shared love of songwriting have brought them together to create a fresh and unique twist on the traditional folk sound. Through their songwriting, arrangements, and musicianship, Meadow Makers strives to create a deeper connection with their listeners. In changing times Meadow Makers hopes their music gives the listener some time to think, reflect, and create positive change in themselves. They hope you walk away, into life, feeling refreshed and hopeful for the future.

Squirrel Jam 4th Sunday Music Night
Participants will be led through an assortment of songs from different eras and genres. Lyrics and chord names are projected on a large screen so attendees may play and sing along, or just listen and enjoy the music. All instruments and skill levels are welcome. Admission is free of charge.

Join us for a fun afternoon of wild creativity with designer John Ford as we create one of a kind wall mounted shadow boxes incorporating natural foraged materials such as mosses, lichen, driftwood, seed pods, dried mushrooms and dried flowers.

Fiber Play Day
Ozark Folkways and the Wool and Wheel Spinners Guild host an open house fiber play day every third Saturday. Anyone with an interest in fiber arts can drop in between 10 and 12, all levels welcome. This is not a class. Participants bring their own projects, can join circles to spin, knit, crochet, etc. or watch others and become a fiber fan.
Folkways Vegan Community Potluck
Attendees can share a recipe of their own and try out some new, delicious plant-based dishes at this free, family-friendly event.
Introduction to Fabric Crochet
Amy Leisure will teach a class on the basics of crochet using fabric strips. Participants will leave with a hook, a bowl, and the knowledge to create many fun projects. Ages 10-15 must be accompanied by a paid parent or guardian, class size limited to 10. Folkways fiber volunteers will be available to help students learn one-on-one. Sack lunch is recommended since the class runs from 10am to 2pm.
$40 fee includes all materials and instruction.

Easter Bonnets w/ John Ford
Participants will make an elaborate Easter bonnet in time for holiday festivities--your imagination is the limit! Participants are asked to bring a hat that fits though some will be available. Hats will become ornate pieces of art, and Ozark Folkways volunteers will help you realize your potential. (Please don't bring a hat you aren't prepared to have fully transformed forever.) Workshop fee includes materials and supplies for decoration as well as assistance and encouragement!

Spin w/ Sona
Sona Gardner will teach basic spinning terms, try different fibers, spin singles and ply them to create their first yarn. Bring your own wheel or rent one for an additional $15. Fee of $50 includes fiber. Please bring a brown bag lunch for this four hour class.

Learn the basics of wet felting to create a colorful, felted wool art project. Participants will leave with a felted wall hanging. For ages 7 and older.

Sweet, Spicy and Hot--Chocolate
When Hernán Cortés arrived in what is now Mexico in 1520, he found the people of the great cities of the central valley drinking a luxurious, luscious hot drink they called chicolatl. Today, five hundred years later, hot chocolate is a worldwide favorite. Join us at Ozark Folkways as David Lee Holcomb shows us how to make a shelf-stable powdered hot chocolate mix from ordinary supermarket ingredients. We'll experiment with special flavors and talk about options for vegans and people with special dietary restrictions. (The mixes we'll be making will NOT be vegan, as they include powdered milk.) Workshop fee of $15 includes samples of each flavor mix to take home.

Block Print Valentines
Aviva Pilgrim will teach the basics of carving and printing a linoleum block. Participants will start by drawing a design, transferring it onto the block, carving, and end with printing onto cardstock to create their own Valentine's cards. They will leave with their own set of carving tools, a linoleum block, and 10 cards and envelopes for printing their own design (or trading with others). Students can come with an idea or drawing or find inspiration in the class.

Paper Making w/ Jenny Dowd
Learn how to make your own paper! This workshop will cover the basic methods of Traditional Western Style papermaking. We will use abaca and sisal fibers and discuss other fibers that could be used. Learn how to prepare the fiber, the basics of sizing, and other optional add-ins.
Under the Stars w/ Jesse Dean & Co. Outdoor Concert
Jesse Dean’s edgy blues-rock songs of the South are rooted in the earthiness of folk. Bring chairs or blankets and enjoy music on the mountain.
