Master Mycologist Jay Justice will join us once again for a fun and informative fall fungi foray focusing on native Arkansas edible, poisonous, and medicinal fall mushrooms.
This is a class series on square dancing and square dance calling. It will be on Thursday evenings starting Nov. 13th and run through Dec. 11th for a total of 4 classes at the Fayetteville Folk School, 207 W. Center Street. No class on Thanksgiving. Classes will be from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Total charge for all 4 classes is $30, payable online or at the door. The money will go to support Ozark Folkways/Fayetteville Folk School.
These classes are for everyone who would like to get comfortable dancing at our many local community square dances and also for those who like to learn to call square dances.
These classes are for BOTH prospective CALLERS and DANCERS. The format is learn-by-doing. Everyone who wants to call will call. But these are also square dance skills classes. We hope you will also come just to dance and improve your dance skills and confidence on the dance floor.
As a square dance caller, you are the person who makes it happen! For a good caller, that means letting the joy that the music brings to your heart come out through your calling to enable the dancers, and would-be dancers, to feel the joy of dance.
In the first half of class, we will focus on student calling. In the second half of class, Steve will teach more complex and challenging dances and invite class feedback on how to improve the teaching.
Each class will start with team calling with callers in teams of 2 or 3. This reduces performance anxiety, and the team work results in faster learning. From that start, those who like will transition to solo calling.
Participants will learn all the basics to stamping in this class. We will cover rubber and photopolymer stamping, proper mounting, block cleaning, and various ink and stamping techniques. You will create three detailed cards along with envelopes to take home. From random stamping to a more advanced “rock and roll” technique, you will leave with tons of information for your future creations. Kits will include die cuts precut by the instructor so focus is on the stamping. Other projects from this instructor can be seen on her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/PapercraftsbyKJ
